Of all his Easter baskets, Rocket likes best the one I picked up for $1 at Target.
Peep homicide! As the saying goes, snitches get stitches, therefore none of the witnesses "saw anything."
I tried making Peep Sushi - or Peepshi - which is so much harder than the original looks. The inspiration calls for making the Rice Krispy roll hollow and tucking in the Peep's neck, but I found it much easier to roll up the Rice Krispies, making a solid roll, then sticking the Peep's head on top. When picking out the fruit roll, I couldn't bring myself to buy Fruit by the Foot because I hate bringing that stuff into our house ever, so I opted for an all natural strawberry fruit roll. As I opened the package up and noticed the dull red of the roll, I knew I had made a moronic mistake, as if a person considering eating a Peepshi would insist on an all natural fruit roll. If someone is willing to eat a Peep and a Rice Krispy Treat, a corn syrup foot snack would probably be okay too.
We decided to finally tell the kids about our upcoming trip to Disneyland. I folded mouse ears origami-style into the eggs and I had my camera ready as they opened them up. "Oh, Mickey Mouse ears," Rocket said. Both kids put the eggs and ears down and returned to their toys. "Do you know what that means? Do you?" I asked. Long pause. "We're going to Disneyland!" Another long pause. "Mmm hmm, " Clover said, moving right along, "Did you see my Gogos? I think this one is a top 15!"
Sigh.
